York Products West started with the founding of Newmark of Colorado in 1983 when the Texas Coffin Company Denver branch was acquired by William (Jim) Eaton. Eaton had been a sales representative for Texas Coffin since 1974 and was given an opportunity to acquire the division when Amedco, Inc., a leading manufacturer of burial caskets, acquired Texas Coffin. Throughout the years, many transitions occurred in the industry and with them came many other opportunities.
In 1988 Service Corporation International sought to divest itself of the Belmont and Boyertown distribution centers in Phoenix, Arizona. Eaton acquired those two properties and David Eaton, Jim's brother, joined the company to form York Products, Inc.
In 1990 the newly formed York Group, Inc. decided to concentrate on manufacturing and sell its casket distribution centers, and the Los Angeles distribution center was added to the marketing territory of the company as California Newmark caskets, Inc., DBA York Casket Company.
The Sacramento division became available in 2001 and is operated as a satellite to the Los Angeles divisions. The decision to operate Sacramento as a branch stems from the desire to make available to Northern California the vast product offering warehoused in Los Angeles.
ExperienceYork Products West employs eight account managers with over 120 combined years experience. York Products West also employs the only Cremation Specialist to offer training and merchandising assistance to the industry. Now that Eaton's daughter, Stephanie, has joined the company we can boast that she becomes the fifth generation of funeral goods providers to the industry.
